Clinique’s Supermoisture makeup foundation is a liquid foundation which offers sheer to medium coverage. Clinique isn’t the most affordable brand out there so I had to do a lot of research before buying this. I’ll say one thing though, this just doesn’t get over! Yes, this isn’t my most used foundation but even so the tube appears like it’s never been used! You do get a lot of wear from this.
I closest shade to mine is 12 Warm caramel. I’m an NC 35-37 and shade works pretty well for me. The foundation comes with tube packaging which is easy to use. You do at times end up with more foundation than you need though. But it does offer more control than pumps. This is meant for dry skin if you want to achieve a dewy and hydrated finish. For oily skin types I’m guessing it won’t be a good match, it might just make you more shiny! This foundation also consists of light reflecting particles. More on this later though!
I’m quite happy with the consistency. Over time you tend to waste a bit of product as the starting is runny water which is no use. Depending on how much you apply, you get sheer to medium coverage. For a natural look, a sheer coverage works best though. It blends really well. I sometimes use just fingers to apply it which works well. A stippling brush is also very effective in getting an even look. This stays on for a decent amount of time. I wore this for a day and it would stay on well for 7-8 hours before it was gone. Quality wise I’m happy with this.
Now the nasty part, the light reflecting particles. I honestly don’t know why these were made or if it’s just a gimmick. My money is on the latter. This contains a good dose of those. If you go for medium or heavier coverage you run the risk of looking like a disco ball. If you apply very little, it isn’t so noticible but it’s still there. You might notice it up close. While photographing the foundation doesn’t have any spf effect, you don’t look white or ashy. So that’s a good point. The particles can be noticed under light and a bit under the sun as well.
If you want to avoid that, the best way to use this foundation is a sheer coverage and a powder on top to set it. The foundation does have an odd smell though. It’s like the Mac foundation smell, the kind you don’t like. It does bother me a bit.
