Essie Splash of Grenadine Nail Polish

Hi guys! Hope you’re all having a great start to the week! I have a Sephora Pune update at the end of the post but for now let’s try to focus on this gorgeous spring appropriate nail polish!

Essie Splash of Grenadine is such a difficult colour to describe. Pinky purple? Lavender pink? Very very cool toned light pink? I’m going to settle for #D384C4. It’s also hard to photograph exactly which is why I have it below in all possible natural light settings. Maybe we can all just agree that it’s pretty. It might at times look warm on it’s own but on me it’s very cool toned.

As much as I love Essie, the formulas are pretty inconsistent (on me). Thankfully, Splash of Grenadine has a great formula. It’s a thin consistency and not quite opaque (not too sheer either). You’d definitely need 2 coats to get an opaque look but it will be even and glossy with no streakiness or weird pooling.

In terms of wear time, it can go about 4-5 days without chipping majorly. I always have minor tipwear and my right hand nails tend to chip faster ofcourse but overall, it’s decent but not stellar. You can extend that with a topcoat. With Essie you get 13.5ml of product for $8 which is around Rs. 800.

Photos below are without topcoat. I’ve also included comparisons from my Zoya Perrie post.

SEPHORA Pune Update : I like the store! It’s bigger than I thought it would be. The SA’s are helpful but leave you alone if you ask nicely (which I did). They haven’t started the loyalty program yet, probably will next month. Can’t use my Beauty Insider points unfortunately, it’s a different system.

Sorry I forgot to take photos of the store but you can go here to see them. I thought it might be helpful to list the brands they carry. I’ll edit this if I remember more later!

Makeup : Nyx, MUFE, Givenchy, Guerlain, Clinique, Estee Lauder, The Face Shop, Lancome, Benefit, Stila

Skincare : Lancome, Estee Lauder, Clinique, Nuxe, Burt’s Bees, Boscia, Peter Thomas Roth, Clarins, Forest Essentials, Soap & Glory

Haircare : Percy & Reed, Quidad, Oscar Blandi

Oh, I also spotted F21 at Phoenix, I wonder when that will open…

Ofcourse, I hauled a bit. Sorry for the shitty photo but here it is.

IMG_5734Sephora Cotton Pads, Oscar Blandi Dry Shampoo (travel size), Sephora Cream Lipstain in Beige, Givenchy Le Rouge in Brun Cachemire.

I’m just glad I don’t have to order Nuxe Reve de Miel online again and the cotton pads are cheaper than The Body Shop ones! 120 vs 300.

First of all I’m so happy you have a Sephora in your town! That was one lovely haul. Lemme know how you like the dry shampoo.

essie nail polishes are undoubtably the best I tried. This Color is GORG!

    • Xuvious

I’ve only used the dry shampoo twice and it works well but I have to spray a LOT to get a decent amount!
Glad you love Essie too! Which ones stand out?

  • Kristen / Glambunctious

This color is GORGEOUS! Thank you so much for the comparison photos! That is so helpful. I have a Maybelline that seems verrrry similar to this called Lust for Lilac, but dang, this shade is so pretty I want to haul it anyway! I’m glad you had a good Sephora experience, too; nice haulage! :)

    • Xuvious

I know they all seem very similar but for a nail addict like me there’s a huge difference! :p

  • Laarni

I don’t see any kind of color like this one here. Or maybe I am just not over yet with nudes and golds. lol. Awww Sephora, my dreamland! I hope Manila is next!

Hope Sephora opens up there next! ^_^

  • Linda Libra Loca

A very pretty shade, I have to check it out in person to see if it is too cool for me. Essie is by far my favorite nail polish brand!
And I envy you for having a Sephora, there are absolute none in Germany…

    • Xuvious

Glad to find another Essie lover! Which shades in particular do you like?

      • Linda Libra Loca

Too Taboo in summer and For the frill of it during winter.

  • Kiss & Make-up

Pretty! But I have a feeling it might be too cool-toned for me.

    • Xuvious

Yep, could be but it’s a lovely colour. :)

Love the comparison photos! And you bought yourself some fancy goodies there! I wish Sephora would extend the same Beauty Insider Point System to all Sephora. :(

    • Xuvious

Lol, there were a LOT of people asking about the Beauty Insider points, drove the SA’s mad! :p

  • Wild Hearts + Green Tea

I love my Essie polishes and this is a very pretty shade – too bad you weren’t wowed by it, thanks for the review! :)

    • Xuvious

I like it a lot but the formula isn’t as good as something like Essie Watermelon.

  • Jennifer Monforton

This is such a perfect Springtime shade! Glad the formula was great too :)

    • Xuvious

Yep! I don’t mind a bit of sheerness when it comes to soft colours like this one.

  • Agata

I love wearing purple on my nails and I love this shade as well.

Love the new products you got from Sephora! Can’t wait to see the swatch of the lip stain!

    • Xuvious

      True, it’s very spring appropriate!
I actually like the colour but I’m not sure yet if I like the formula!
