Lakme Absolute Skin Gloss Skincare

I got a chance to try the new Lakme Absolute Skin Gloss range. It’s mostly skincare but also includes the Absolute Gloss Addict lipsticks.

So starting the end of October I basically replaced the relevant products with these in my Skincare Routine. Out went my Antipodes Moisturising Cream and Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate. In came the Lakme Skin Gloss Gel Creme, Reflection Serum and Overnight Mask.

I’ve used these for a little over a month now here are my thoughts. The first thing you’ll notice about all three products is the crazy strong scent. And I don’t like that. It’s like CK One or Eau de Cologne mixed with gel. It lingers after you put it on so yea, it was a bit annoying but I can generally get over scents as long as they aren’t breaking me out. I did do patch tests first and nothing really happened so I felt better about using them on my face.

Lakme Skin Gloss Gel Creme – This is a light blue gel which is very very light, almost like a whipped gel if that makes any sense. I’ve used gel-cream moisturizers before and they always feel a bit heavy for a while. This one actually feels more like a serum when you put it on because it’s so light. It also sinks in very quickly. Your skin is soft and hydrated after using it, but it doesn’t look plump or radiant. If you have dull skin, it’ll still look pretty dull minux any dryness. It lasts for around 6-7 hours a day depending on the weather. It’s pretty dry in Pune now so I managed during the day. By the end of the day I needed to reapply a light moisturizer on some areas. I don’t think this is great for dry skin but for normal or combination skin, I think it’ll be alright. Also, I was wary of “gloss” but all you get (fortunately) is slight sheen when it’s applied. It’s not exactly dewy. [50g for Rs. 399]

Lakme Skin Gloss Reflection Serum – Now this one is a colourless gel with medium consistency. It’s just slightly thicker than the Gel Creme. Again, this sinks in almost instantly and leaves a slight film. But it doesn’t feel very hydrating, you definitely need to apply moisturizer over this. As far as a serum goes, I don’t think it did much. I like waking up with a smooth plump skin, a face that looks alive. This doesn’t really do anything for me other than act as an adequate moisturizer. [30ml for Rs. 899]

Lakme Skin Gloss Overnight Mask – Meant to work as night cream/mask this is thicker white gel. You really do get a “gloss” look with this because it doesn’t skin in so quickly.  On weekdays when I don’t really get so much sleep, this keeps my skin hydrated till the morning. On weekends when I sleep in for more time, by the time I wake up my skin does feel a bit dry. This is something I never have to worry about with my facial oil and I always have radiant skin which makes me look more awake! I used this for a while and really missed my serum, promptly returned to it but continued using the day cream and serum. [50g for Rs. 599]

About the scent, it was very strong but it didn’t really affect me adversely. If you have known sensitivity to scents then definitely skip these.

Skincare wise I feel it’s adequate and more suited to normal skin, though I could also use this in hotter months more effectively. Out of the three, I think the Gel Creme is worth a try since it’s a different texture that sinks in very quickly and also not too pricey. Also, the ingredients list is extensive and a bit scary. Unfortunately, I don’t have the boxes these came with, the ingredients were on it.

Although they aren’t overly expensive, no point buying them if they aren’t going to work. Thanks Alice! xx

Hmmm, yeah, this doesn’t convince me :-( Too bad.

It’s a shame because they do decent makeup but this line was just a complete dud.

Ouch Lakme ! Too bad they didn’t work out…not so bad that you didn’t pay for them ha;) I’ve used some of their lipsticks and glosses in the past tho and did like them .

Yep, they do makeup quite well (except maybe bases). I had never really tried anything from their skincare line though.
