I’m back from my much needed break! Morjim beach was amazing! The rest of Goa was way too crowded due to the long weekend but Morjim is far away and it was just the right amount of crowd. The beach is very clean although the waves are a bit more “angry” than the rest of Goa. Still, it was an amazing holiday. We were probably the only Indians there, it’s still weird to find every single menu and sign in Russian!
The lipstick I’m reviewing today was in a recent haul. I fell head over heels in love with it when I first used it but after using it for a while, there are few problems I’ve noticed.
Nars Audacious Lipstick in Grace is a neon coral red! The best way to describe this is Mac Impassioned mixed with Ruby Woo. I feel it has the same intensity and vibrancy as Impassioned but more red. It’s quite similar to Mac All Fired Up or L’oreal Moist Matte in Raspberry Syrup but it’s much more warm and neon.
The formula looks like it might be really thick and creamy, something that might slip easily but it’s so not. It’s a bit lightweight, it doesn’t move around too much and stays put. You get true colour in just one swipe. Even with very pigmented lips like mine, I didn’t have to reapply to even it out. It really does make your lips look fuller and smooth. I also like the satin finish, it has a very slight sheen.
I didn’t find this to be hydrating or moisturising though. It isn’t drying on me and wears well over a light balm but maybe if I were to apply it directly to dry lips, I would find the formula uncomfortable. It’s not as smooth when you have chapped lips though. Overall, I’m very happy with the formula, but it isn’t stellar.
The lipstick is perfectly fine for light snacks and drinks but won’t survive a proper meal. After a meal, it hadn’t worn off completely, the middle area was a bit stained and I had to reapply it after dinner. It also left my wine glass with a bold red mark! There’s a lot of pigment there so even though it transfers heavily, there will always be some product left (which you may or may not prefer). It lasts evenly for 5 hours (without a meal) with very slight fading which is comparable to any other lipstick in this price segment.
I love the packaging, it’s weighty and so sleek with a satisfying click! The bullet is a bit short but it’s wider than most. Considering that you’re getting 4.2g of product, $32 seems reasonable.
Overall, I like this lipstick and would recommend it if you want a creamy pigmented lipstick but for me it’s not in the same league as Guerlain Le Rouge, L’oreal Moist Matte or Giorgio Armani Rouge D’Armani which are my some of my favourite formulas. I know I always said I’d purchase Anita next but I’m going to hold off on that for now!
