Rimmel Scandaleyes Shadow Paint in Rich Russet

There’s almost this sense of accomplishment you get when you find a bargain worth well beyond its value. Sadly, I often tend to lose these gems in my makeup drawer. I bought Rimmel Scandaleyes Shadow Paint in Rich Russet a year ago, used it for a few months and forgot about it. Thankfully, my democratized monthly makeup rotation helped me rediscover it and I’ve been on a mission to use it up.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Shadow Paints were probably released last year. Along with Maybelline Color Tattoos it was the next great drugstore product. Among the shamefully tiny range is Rich Russet, a neutral taupey brown with tons of shimmer.

In my experience you can get varied coverage. Apply little for a sheer wash or almost a dollop for an even opaque colour. However, a year on, I have noticed that it’s less fluid and I need more product than before to get an opaque look. It’s also started to separate inside the tube.

It’s very creamy and feels very wet and almost glossy when you apply it to the lids. You have to be quick though, there’s a small margin for blending after which it sets to an almost matte finish and refuses to budge. Blending is very easy, either with a finger or a synthetic brush. Another big win is the longevity, it wears well the entire day, beyond 8 hours and it’s absolutely set in place with no shimmer dispersed around the face.

I’ve been using this a lot for the past two months as an all over lid shade and is one of my many go to brown shades. (Maybe I should do a post on these). The packaging is good by drugstore standards, I like that you can see the entire product. The wand however is a bit too long and carries way too much product.

I’m not certain if this has been discontinued, I can’t find it in too many places online. In India, your best bet would be Parcos stores. The part that will make you happy, this costs only Rs. 400 ( or £4.99 ) for 7ml of product! I’m also glad that the shelf life is 2 years, excellent for a cream product.

It looks similar to my beloved MaxFactor Liquid Eyeshadow in Coffee, also a bargain and a pleasure to wear.

Love that colour! I have Rimmels’ shadow stick in trespassing taupe, think that will look amazing paired with rich russet xx

Oh yea, their Shadow Sticks are supposedly really good as well! Rimmel just seems very elusive in my city at the moment.

Very pretty. This looks like it would work as a nice base or quick everyday color.

Definitely, if I can spare more time I do add a darker shadow on the outer lid.
