You might have heard a reasonable amount of praise for The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer, here’s one more in the crowd.
The highlighter is known best for it’s universal colour, pigmentation, fine quality, glow sans sparkle and the relatively affordable price!
Mary-Lou is a champagne gold colour, it’s not too warm though. It translates very well on the skin as a colour that’s not too cool or warm. The powder is very very fine and there’s no chunky glitter or distinct shimmer, it all looks seamless.
Unless you carefully it use very little, this isn’t going to be a very subtle highlight. It’s out there, but it’s not chunky or sparkly, it’s gorgeous! It can also be built up quite a bit.
I do find it best applied with a soft tapered blush. It takes a bit more effort to blend out but I don’t mind because that way you don’t end up with shimmer all over your face. It sticks to where it’s been applied and doesn’t budge.
What I love best apart from the actual highlight glow, is that the other cheek away from light doesn’t look ashy or powdery. It looks like there’s nothing on there. I don’t think it emphasises pores but if you were it apply it on more textured skin, this will highlight it. It would be best to use a primer and/or foundation to smoothen the skin first.
In terms of longevity, this will last a good 8 hours and then some. I haven’t counted exact hours but I’ve worn this to day long weddings several times and come back home with my makeup intact!
For the quality and colour it’s one of my favourite highlighters but it’s also very versatile. This can easily be used as an eyeshadow or brow bone highlight.
You 8.5g of product, which is massive. Not sure how I will ever be able to finish this up. The best place to get this is FeelUnique, preferably during one of the sales.
PS. My hair is very messy in these photos.

What else is up with you guys? I have the usual work excuse for not being regular with posting. In other news, I’ll be visiting New York for a couple of days in October. Keep your food recommendations coming!
I’m excited I’ll get to see a lot of my friends. It’s probably a bit relatable and sad that my first thought was ‘Times Square Sephora’. I know.
