So I’m probably the last person writing about India Couture Week 2014 and it took me while to do this mainly because I had other posts scheduled.
I really really wish the fashion timetable in India was more streamlined. It just feels so chaotic with the sponsor names and dates. I also wish there was a nice centralized website where I can get all the latest info. Sort of like WWD or Style.com for Indian Fashion. Recently, I did find fashionfad.in which has a nice archive of all designers and good photos. Vogue.in is alright but the picture quality is terrible.
Anyway, rant over. Here are some of the collections from the couture shows. If the RTW shows are any indication of the amount of work that goes into the clothes, it’s exponentially more for the couture shows. Sabyasachi and Anju Modi were probably my favourites. I also love the quirky tribal aesthetic of Manish Arora; in the sea of Indian wear, his outfits are truly unique.
I don’t know why but for me personally, Gaurav Gupta’s collection just seems so out of league with the rest there. Manish Malhotra’s collection was glam as usual and very tasteful without going ott.
